EARPIECE

EArPieCe: Encoding and Analysing Popular music.

  • Interreg IPA CBC Italy–Albania–Montenegro 2014–2020
  • Project no. 448
  • EUR 721,820, 85% IPA
  • 1 Jul 2020 – 30 Sep 2022

The project is co-funded by the Interreg IPA CBC Italy–Albania–Montenegro programme (priority axis 2, specific objective 2.2, tourism and culture).

About the project

EArPieCe studies the popular music repertoire of Italy, Albania and Montenegro from the Baroque to today, looking for similarities that can underpin future music production and bring the cultures of the three territories into one system. Repertoires of great cultural, social and artistic value are linked in a shared musical network that values both local character and common traditions.

Using advanced neurological technology, the project opens new ground in understanding the emotional and cognitive perception of music, including how listeners respond to Montenegrin musical heritage.

The lead partner is Dhitech – Distretto Tecnologico High-Tech from Lecce; the Association of Young Artists of Montenegro is the Montenegrin partner.
